Munoz helps Bishop capture VCA tourney title

Elias Munoz tossed in 18 points and Bishop Diego bounced back from a bad fourth quarter to beat Villanova 52-48 in overtime to win the championship of the Valley Christian Academy boys basketball tournament.

“They fought back after a tough fourth quarter,” Bishop coach Dean Prophet said. “We played well in overtime. It was a total team effort.”

Munoz was named the tournament’s MVP and Ben Kwock was named to the all-tournament team. Kwock and Noah Tack each scored nine points and Reese Moulton grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals.

Bishop (9-5) returns to action next Friday against Grace Brethren in the Frontier League opener.
