Dons thumped by Thousand Oaks

Santa Barbara ran into a strong Thousand Oaks team and got blitzed 78-39 in an opening-round game at the Arroyo Grande boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

The Dons were in the game in the first half, trailing 36-24 at halftime. But the Lancers knocked down five 3-pointers in the third quarter to pull away. They outscored the Dons 42-15.

Austin Cagley scored 21 points and Evan Hall 20 for Thousand Oaks. Sebastian Molina scored seven points for Santa Barbara (0-4).

The Dons play Nipomo on Friday.
