Chargers fall short in tight battle with Simi

Dos Pueblos and Simi Valley battled down to the wire Wednesday and the Chargers came out on the short end, falling 43-42 when Jay Larinan missed a 3-pointer with one second left in a second-round boys basketball game at the Simi Valley Tournament.

DP was ahead 42-41 when Jonathan Davis scored on a layup with 21 seconds left to give Simi Valley the one-point lead.

The Chargers called timeout to set up a potential game-winning play.

Larinan led DP with 18 points and five rebounds. Pablo Miranda added 10 points.

Davis scored 18 for Simi.

The Chargers (1-1) play McClymonds of Oakland on Thursday at 5 p.m.
