Cardinals make third a formality

Allison Breuer scored a team-high 13 points for the Bishop Diego girls basketball team on Saturday, leading the Cardinals to third place at the Fillmore tournament after a 55-30 victory over Santa Paula.

Breuer also collected six rebounds while Kelsey Stimson recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Courtney Houston tallied nine points, five assists and three steals.

The Cardinals have now won three straight after dropping their opener to L.A. Baptist, the eventual tournament champion.

Bishop Diego moves on to host its own tournament next week starting on Tuesday. The Cardinals will open up against La Reina, a replay of a matchup decided 76-32 two days ago in Bishop’s favor.
