Bishop drops opener at Fillmore Tournament

Bishop Diego struggled from the free-throw line and dropped a 51-32 girls basketball decision to L.A. Baptist at the Fillmore Tournament on Wednesday.

The Cardinals shot 4 of 21 from the free-throw line in their season opener.

“That ended up being the difference in the game for us,” said coach Jeff Burich. “We started out fine. Their press got to us a little, but the free throws were the biggest thing.”

Courtney Houston and Charlie Fling each scored eight points and Karina Valencia grabbed 10 rebounds.

Bishop is back in action Thursday against La Reina.
