Bishop Diego can’t overcome cold-shooting first half

Cold shooting plagued Bishop Diego in the first half and the Cardinals couldn’t recover and dropped a 60-46 boys basketball decision to host Oak Park Wednesday at the Oak Park Tournament.

The Cardinals made only four of 22 shots in the first half and fell behind 26-12.

Bishop coach Dean Prophet said his team played even with the Eagles in the second half.

“We took better care of the ball and we rebounded better,” Prophet said. “We showed some improvement, which is good.”

Elliott Munoz scored 16 points to lead the Cardinals. Johnny Diaz added nine and Noah Tack 7, all on free throws.

The Cardinals continue pool play on Thursday against Oxnard.
