Bickett pumps in 25, but Owls fall short in opener

Brandon Bickett sank seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points, but it wasn’t enough as Laguna Blanca dropped its boys basketball season opener to visiting Santa Maria Valley Christian Academy 60-51.

“We played with a lot of intensity and I was really proud of our team,” Laguna coach Sal Rodriguez said. “We had several chances to win the game but it wasn’t to be. If we continue to play with such intensity, we will be very successful.“

Spencer Dusebout played strong on the boards, grabbing 14 rebounds to go along with 10 points.

Rodriguez also praised the play of point guard Logan Elder and the defense of Connor Gray.
