Bishop Diego junior Elisa Bernardi lifted the Cardinals’ girls soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Cate on Friday, scoring on a breakaway in the 56th minute.
Bernardi provided the one goal the Cardinals were looking for and Bishop head coach Brent Gonzalves credited his defensive line with preserving the shutout.
“I just thought they did a great job of keeping our shutout going,” Gonsalves said.
It was the seventh game in 11 days for Bishop Diego, which has started its season with a 3-2-2 record. Laguna Blanca is up next on Monday.
