Warriors win, Cards finish with best match

Erin Fatio went 3-0 in singles play as did the doubles tandem of Shanya Norman/Myriah Diaz in Carpinteria’s 12-6 girls tennis victory over Bishop Diego at the Municipal Tennis Courts on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Cardinals coach Suzanne Petrie said that the season finale was their best performance of the year. Senior captain Mary Lou Bailey and teammate Yazmine Guzman rallied from a 2-5 deficit to win a set, and the team of Emily Duncan/Camie Thompson did the same. The Cardinals (1-8, 1-7 Frontier) will return all but one player next year.

“Everyone had a really good time and was really enthusiastic this year. It was a good match, and we wish Carpinteria all the best in CIF,” said Petrie.
