Providence Hall girls falls short in first game

A shorthanded Providence Hall girls basketball team gave Santa Maria Valley Christian a battle before coming up short 42-38 in its first official CIF game.

Hannah Parks scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Lacey Gonzalez added eight points for the Lions, who suited up only six players because illness and injuries.

“They were pressing us and the girls started getting tired,” said assistant coach Laura Trudelle.

The Lions led by 12 in the third quarter.

“We weren’t able to hold on,” Trudelle said. “I saw some good stuff. I like what I saw. We will be able to do more when we get a bench.”
