Warriors can’t keep pace with No. 6 Cal Baptist

After falling 28-26 in the first set, Westmont rallied to take the second set 25-19. But No. 6-ranked California Baptist roared back with 25-11 and 25-15 wins in sets three and four respectively to capture the Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball match at Murchison Gym on Saturday night.

Alison Sharp led the Warriors with 13 points and also tallied 13 digs and 20 serve receptions. Tessa Martin notched 11 kills, 11 digs and 21 serve receptions while Ciara Turner added 10 digs to the Warrior cause.

Hitting errors proved to be the Warriors undoing as they committed 27 attack errors and had an attack percentage of just .104. Also hurting the Warriors was an absence of blocking as they tallied only three as a team.

The loss gives Westmont an overall record of 9-12 and a conference mark of 3-9. Cal Baptist is 22-3, 9-3.

Westmont will take to the road next week, playing at Hope International (5-11, 2-10 GSAC) on Tuesday night and at 10th-ranked Concordia (16-5, 7-5 GSAC) on Saturday.
