Porter has 17 kills, 30 digs in comeback

Allyson Porter had 17 kills and a season-high 30 digs on Tuesday night, sparking SBCC to a 3-1 comeback victory over Hancock. The scores of the women’s volleyball match at the Sports Pavilion were 22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-19.

Antonia Antes had 14 kills and Danielle Stewart and Jenn Waddill contributed seven apiece for the 10th-ranked Vaqueros (15-5, 4-1). Hanna Powers added 22 digs and Hillary Tomas had 20. Nicole Bergmann recorded four blocks.

Mariah Mathews had 48 assists for SBCC, which has won seven of its last eight.

“We rallied together and played as a team,” said coach Ed Gover. “We got some key sideouts from Allyson and Antonio when we need them and some key blocks from Nicole.”

The Vaqueros will open the second round of WSC play on Tuesday at Ventura.
