No. 3 Vaqs settle for tie at La Playa

SBCC had a handful of scoring chances on Tuesday night in La Playa Stadium but couldn’t find the net in a 1-1 men’s soccer tie with Oxnard.

The third-ranked Vaqueros (12-1-2, 7-0-2) remained one point ahead of the No. 25 Condors (7-3-5, 7-1-1) atop the Western State Conference. Goalie Yonha Adrabi and the defense earned their second straight save and 10th of the year.

Kalum Horne narrowly missed a shot early in the contest and Rodrigo Perez was just wide on a second-half opportunity.

“We had about five good scoring chances and Oxnard hit the crossbar with a few minutes to go,” said coach John Sisterson. “We would have liked to win but it was important that we didn’t lose.”

SBCC travels to Citrus on Friday for a 2 p.m. match.
