Santa Barbara High’s Mark Davis had more heroics left in his swim cap on Saturday for the Dons, scoring for the second straight day with five seconds left in a game to send it into overtime.
The Dons went on to win both of those games, this one a 15-14 victory over Cathedral Catholic. Davis was Santa Barbara’s MVP throughout the match, collecting a pair of goals to go with six assists and four drawn ejections.
Davis’ goal capped a furious comeback by the Dons, who trailed 11-6 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Dons let the momentum carry them to the first three goals in overtime and a 15-12 lead, which Cathedral Catholic trimmed to one before time ran out.
Santa Barbara lost its other game 11-8 to Righetti. Alec Linz tallied a team-high three goals while Connor McManigal added two goals and two assists. Nick Johnson was good for one goal and four steals.
Next up for the Dons is a Channel League matchup with No. 5 Dos Pueblos on Tuesday. The match starts at 3:15 in the Dons’ pool.
