Chase Racich returned from homecoming and scored four goals, and Max Silva played one of his best games to help the Dos Pueblos water polo team defeat Murrieta Valley 12-11 in the fifth-place game at the North-South Challenge in Stanford.
Silva scored three goals in what coach Chris Parrish described as “a breakout game” for the junior. Racich played a strong game after participating in DP’s homecoming festivities on Friday night and traveling to the Bay Area to join the water polo team Saturday morning.
Goalie Brady Moore was a force against Murrieta Valley with 13 saves and three steals.
In the fifth-place semifinal, Kevin Cappon scored four goals and Moore recorded 11 saves and three steals in a 7-6 victory over St. Francis of Mountain View.
The Chargers (18-4) opened the tournament Friday by beating Acalanes 14-8. They then ran up against a strong Mater Dei team and suffered a 15-6 loss.
Mater Dei won the tournament, beating El Toro in the final.
Dos Pueblos returns home for a match against Santa Barbara on Tuesday for the Channel League championship.
