Westmont falls to Cal Lutheran in four sets

Freshman middle blocker Ciara Turner made just two errors in 29 attacks while tallying 15 kills, but it wasn’t enough as the Westmont volleyball lost to Cal Lutheran, 25-23, 25-17, 18-25, 27-25, Thursday night in a nonconference match at the Gilbert Arena.

Allison Kerr posted a game-high 21 kills and an attack percentage of .625 to lead the Regals while Megan Thorpe added another 15 kills.

Westmont freshman middle blocker Marie Trudelle added eight kills while senior outside hitter Alison Sharp chalked up seven kills and 20 digs. Candace Adema recorded 38 assists.

Westmont (6-6) served for set point at 24-23 in the fourth frame, which would have tied the match at two-all. But the Warriors lost the next two points before tying the match again at 25. The door was open and the Regals (5-3) took advantage, winning the next two points to end the contest.

The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday night when they host Hope International at Murchison Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
