Rams settle for second to Toads

Cate hosted the season’s first Condor League cross country meet on Wednesday, only to see league rival Thacher run away with the titles in both the boys and girls races.

Cate's Spencer McAvoy ran to a fourth-place finish on Wednesday.

The Rams finished second in both thanks to top-10 finishers Adrian Walsh, Denali Tietjen, Charlotte Bowles, Spencer McAvoy and Austin Lokre.

McAvoy was Cate’s top runner overall, placing fourth in the boys race with a time of 18 minutes and three seconds. The effort was McAvoy’s personal best and the 10th all-time fastest time for a Cate runner on their home course.

Thacher’s Will Callan won the boys race with a time of 16:16.

Laguna Blanca’s Parker Lilly placed second to lead the Owl boys to a fourth-place team finish, while Marla Bonser was the top runner for the girls, who also finished in fourth.

Walsh clocked the fastest time for Cate’s girls, finishing in seventh place at 22:10. Jamie Haight and Kate Groetzinger also recorded points for the Cate girls.

For the boys, Jason Park, Bill Pomerans and Ahmed Bou-Rabee were packed together in 12th, 13th and 15th places.

The Rams are also scheduled to be at Friday’s Dos Pueblos Invitational at Shoreline Park.
