Passing woes lead to sweep of Royals

Jaimie Mayner’s 12 kills with just two errors and Katherine Crook’s 10 kills with no errors weren’t enough to overcome a shaky passing night on Thursday as the San Marcos girls volleyball team was swept by visiting Westlake 25-12, 25-20, 25-23.

“We passed horribly, and if we can’t pass we’re not gonna fool anyone,” said coach Erica Downing.

Iris Campbell came off the bench and had some key serves to go along with five digs in the third game for the Royals (2-1), who have a tournament in Ventura this week.
