Santa Barbara’s boys water polo team pulled out an exciting 9-8 victory over Servite on Friday, scoring the match’s final two goals for the come-from-behind triumph.

Servite held an advantage by breaking a 7-7 tie with a goal at the three-minute mark to take an 8-7 lead. That’s when Dons senior Mark Davis took over.

Davis prevented a two-goal deficit for the Dons by blocking a shot with 1:40 left on the clock to diffuse a 6-on-5 situation. Davis went on to score twice in the final 80 seconds, putting home the game winner with 31 seconds to go.

Davis’ two goals matched Enzo Wolfe and Connor McManigal for the team high in scoring.

The victory was Santa Barbara’s second in a row, a streak that will be on the line Saturday against Esperanza in a match that begins at 11 a.m.
