Belletti brings home bronze from Junior Olympics

Club West of Santa Barbara's Amber Belletti

Amber Belletti of Santa Barbara rose to the ocassion and came away with a bronze medal at the U.S. Track and Field Junior Olympics in Sacramento.

Belletti, competing for Club West, threw 26 feet, 6 1/4 inches to place third in the Bantam Girls (ages 9-10) shot put on Saturday. The winning mark was 30-10 1/4 by Sophia-Hannah Hall of the Bay Area’s 3M Track Club.

Competing in her first National Championship, Belletti came from behind on her last attempt to take third with a throw that was just three inches off her personal best. Belletti competed against 27 other girls, aged between 9 and 10, that qualified from 16 Regions from around the country.

In other results from Club West athletes, Nick Scarvelis finished 12th in the Young Men’s discus with a throw of 166-0 and Sophia Hope placed 16th in the Bantam Girls high jump with a mark of 3-7 1/4.
