Looks like Liddell’s career is at an end

It has been widely reported that former San Marcos wrestler Chuck Liddell had his UFC career end on Saturday night after being knocked out by Rich Franklin at UFC 115 in Vancouver. While Liddell has not formally announced his retirement, UFC President Dana White ruled out any more fights for the 40-year-old.

“I thought Chuck looked great right up until it ended, but I guarantee you that tonight was the last time,” White said in his post-fight comments.

The “Iceman” graduated from San Marcos in 1988 and was inducted into the Royals’ Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. He currently lives in San Luis Opispo, where he went to Cal Poly. Liddell was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2009.

Liddell’s UFC career was wildly successful. For a time, Liddell was considered the face of the sport as it rose into the American mainstream. Liddell was the light heavyweight champion from 2005-2007 and has a career record of 21 wins and eight losses.
