Doolittle in the top 10 at U.S. Championships

UCSB All-American Jane Doolittle placed sixth in the high jump at the U.S. Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend.

Doolitttle, the school’s record holder, cleared 6 feet, 1/2 inch at the championships. Chaunte Lowe won the event with an American record jump of 6-8 3/4.

Gaucho Barbara Nwaba competed in the heptathlon and finished in 12th place with 5,485 points. Her best event was the shot put in which she placed fifth with a heave of 40-2. Her other marks were 18-7 in the long jump, 123-11 in the javelin and 2:22.99 for the 800 meters.

Other UCSB athletes competing were Julian DeRubira (18th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:02.56), Danielle Domenichelli (17th in the 10,000 in 34:29.27) and Ryan Martin in the 800 (27th in the prelims).
