Stratman’s perfect to win 16s title

After battling through five rounds of opponents this past week in Elk Grove, sophomore Lauren Stratman of Dos Pueblos proved to be unbeatable.

Stratman did not drop a single set in the US Tennis Association National Open 16 division. As the competition got stiffer, Stratman continued to dominate by big margins. She held her opponents to two games or less in 12 out of her possible 20 sets played.

In the round of 64, Stratman had one of her few close matches but still prevailed. In the semifinals, Stratman faced Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer of Calabasas 7-5, 7-6(1). In the finals, Stratman ended the tournament in commanding fashion with a, 6-2, 6-1 win over Crystal Yen of Saratoga.

This is the third big tournament win of the season so far for the two-time Channel League Champion and Santa Barbara Round Table high school girls tennis Player of the Year.
