Seeds stand up into Channel League semis

The Channel League singles championships went according to form on Monday with the top four seeds moving into Tuesday’s semifinals after two rounds were competed at Dos Pueblos.

Top seed Chase Melton will play Ventura’s Michael Lowe while No. 2 seed Sasha Gryaznov takes on Santa Barbara’s Nico Pollero on Tuesday at Cathedral Oaks(2:30 p.m.).

Melton, Lowe and Pollero won each of their matches in straight sets but Gryaznov was pushed to three sets in the second round by the Dons’ Sammer Garcia. Dos Pueblos’ Austin Cano won his first-round match as did Ventura’s Jacob Rucker and Bobby Oldt.
