More fast times turned in at second Nite Moves

Three runners ran the 5K in under 17 minutes at the second Nite Moves race on Wednesday at Leadbetter Beach. Santa Barbara’s David Monico was the top runner, clocking in at 16:32, while Michael Smith (16:34) and John Plimpton (16:51), both of Goleta, were close behind. Monico, 28, was one of the five runners who accomplished the feat in last week’s race.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Twelve-year-old Walker Bell won the swimming portion of the evening for the second straight week, finishing the half-mile course in 12:29, one second ahead of former Dos Pueblos star Adrienne Binder, 25.

Santa Maria’s Jonathan Mason, 34, won the run/swim aquathon event by 54 seconds, finishing in 39 minutes flat.
