Gryaznov gets Chargers past Loyola

Dos Pueblos’ boys tennis team extended its season on Wednesday with a 12-6 CIF-opening victory at Loyola.

As a result, the Chargers will host No. 3-seeded Corona del Mar on Friday in the second round.

“We had such a great season, that none of us wanted it to end,” said Chargers head coach Liz Frech.

Sasha Gryaznov steadied the Chargers with his almost-automatic three sets in singles. Gryaznov breezed through his sets 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.  Christian Edstrom also had success in singles, claiming two sets.

The doubles team of Austin Cano and Sean Handley was equally effective with their three wins. Andy Silverstein and Eric Katz backed them up by winning two of their three sets.
