Greason’s great game goes for naught

Mackie Greason’s monstruous effort was thwarted by Harvard Westlake on Saturday as Cate’e boys lacrosse team was brought down 10-8 in a non-league contest.

Greason was a crucial cog in Cate’s offense, having a hand in all of the Rams’ eight goals. The senior tallied three goals and five assists to lead the Rams.

The difference in the game came in the second quarter, when Harvard outscored Cate 3-1 to take a 6-4 halftime lead. Cate rallied in the third to tie the game, but Westlake scored four of the game’s next five goals to capture the victory.

The Rams were whistled for 13 penalties to Westlake’s four, forcing Cate to play a man-down for significant portions of the match.

Wes Greason and Cormac O’Connor scored twice each for Cate while Greason added two assists. Michael Hassman scored once.

Cate travels to Malibu on Wednesday for its next game.
