Doubles does it for Royals

San Marcos’ boys tennis team wasn’t about to hand Buena its first Channel League victory on Thursday as the Royals pounded out a 13-5 win over the Bulldogs.

San Marcos evens its league record at 3-3 while Buena falls to 0-6 on the year.

The Royals took capitalized on their advantage in doubles by sweeping all nine sets, led by the No. 1 team of Jackson Mann and Scott Messier. Jacob Coffey and Garrett Hazarian teamed up for only the third time this season and saw good results.

“Jacob and Garrett served extremely well all day and closed the net off nicely for easy points,” explained Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley.

San Marcos hosts Dos Pueblos on Tuesday in a critical league match that will help break-up a three-way tie for second place between the Royals, Chargers and Ventura.
