CIF Polls: Dons baseball burning up the charts

An eight-game win streak and a tournament title last week is building the reputation of Santa Barbara High’s baseball team and it showed in the latest CIF polls released on Monday.

The Dons have an overall record of 12-1-1 and debuted at No. 4 in the Division II Top-10.  Santa Barbara collected four victories last week at the Righetti Tournament, including a signature win over D-I No. 1 Royal.

Cate’s baseball team has been in Division VII’s top-10 all season and this week the Rams are in the No. 9 position.

These were the first set of polls released in two weeks because of spring break.

BASEBALL *** SOFTBALL *** BOYS TENNIS *** BOYS VOLLEYBALL

In boys tennis, Santa Barbara High took over as the No. 3 team in Division I after defeating the previous No. 3, Palos Verdes, 12-6 last week. University and Peninsula hold on to the top two spots.

The Channel League features three teams in the rankings as Ventura(7) and Dos Pueblos(10T), who play each other on Thursday, were also recognized.

Cate’s tennis team, which has not lost a match against a divisional opponent, moved up to No. 6 in Division IV.

South Coast volleyball and softball teams have yet to crack the polls.
