Freshman Hannah Ball went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, but San Marcos had an absolutely nightmarish first inning on Tuesday in a 15-3 mercy-rule loss to Buena.
The Royals (3-5, 0-3 Channel League) issued eight walks, hit a batter and committed five errors to allow 12 runs in the first inning. They committed 10 errors on the day.
“It snowballed, and we just couldn’t get out of it,” said coach Alex Sheldon of the first inning. “We just have to try to learn from it and get better.”
