Cate breezes through OVS in first match

Freshman middle blocker Stu Engs had nine kills while Joe Gottwald added nine aces and eight kills as the Cate boys volleyball team swept visiting Ojai Valley School on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-17, 25-13.

It was the first official match of the year for the Rams, who are now 3-0 after winning a pair of contests via forfeit. Houston Bradley put away seven kills on the right side, and coach Dan Terry said that overall he was happy with his team’s performance.

“We’re pretty confident about the Condor League this year,” said Terry. “We were missing a couple of guys today and we took Joe out for half of the third game but still handled things well.”

The Rams play at Nordhoff on Friday.
