Blum’s first start blows Northglenn away

Carpinteria’s Steven Blum didn’t let an opportunity to start go to waste. Blum put together a four-hit shutout through six innings, giving way to Zach Boberg in the seventh inning of a 4-0 victory over Colorado’s Northglenn.

Blum struck out eight batters in his six innings and Boberg came on to pitch a 1-2-3 seventh as the Warriors improve to 4-2 on the year. Carpinteria opens league play on Wednesday at home against Fillmore.

Jose Carrillo had two hits on the day, including an RBI single in the first inning. Blum added another RBI single in a two-run first, with both run-scoring hits coming with two outs.

Victor Garcia and Trevor Madden scored on a two-run blunder by North Glen in the fourth inning. Two errors on the same play allowed Madden to score all the way from first base without the ball being hit.
