SBCC keeps an unbeaten line

SBCC captured the last five singles and all three doubles points on Tuesday at Pershing Park and remained unbeaten with a 7-2 women’s tennis triumph over Ventura.

“It was a close match,” said coach Debbie Ekola, whose team is 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Western State Conference. “We were up 4-2 after singles and all three doubles were tight matches.”

Lindsay Penner and Kendra Ross secured the victory by getting the fifth point with an 8-4 doubles victory. Meghan Schaeffer-Amy Sagraves worked overtime for their 9-7 win while Anna Slyutova and Terea Tapu also prevailed 8-5.

There were a trio of three-set singles matches and SBCC won two with Ross coming through at No. 3 and Sagraves prevailing at No. 4.
