Warriors’ cold shooting leads to league loss

Carpinteria shot just 27-percent from the field and uncharacteristically went without a 3-pointer in Tuesday’s 48-39 Frontier League girls basketball loss to visiting Malibu.

Caitlin Wallace led the way for Carpinteria (8-6, 0-1) with 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Amanda Burch had a team-high 17 points.

“It was a very winnable game. No one led by more than five for the first three-and-a-half quarters, “ noted coach Dan Mercer. “It just wasn’t falling tonight, and that’ll happen.”

The Warriors play at No. 2 Santa Clara on Thursday.
