CIF POLLS: Dons, Chargers hold No. 1 grip tight

Dos Pueblos’ girls water polo team and Santa Barbara’s boys soccer team remain perched atop their respective CIF polls that were released on Monday after a week in which most of Southern California’s outdoor sports action was postponed due to rain.

While the Dons (19-0-0) didn’t play, Dos Pueblos (18-0) played in the rain on Thursday, bashing San Marcos 16-1.

The Santa Barbara High girls basketball team is in the eight spot in Division 3-A after its big come-from-behind win over Buena, the No. 5 team in 3-AA.

GIRLS WATER POLO *** BOYS SOCCER *** GIRLS SOCCER

GIRLS BASKETBALL *** BOYS BASKETBALL

Bishop Diego (Div. 5-A) and Laguna Blanca (6-AA) are also ranked in girls basketball.

San Marcos’ boys basketball team dropped a Channel League game to Ventura on Friday night and slipped to No. 11 in Div. 3-A.

Laguna Blanca is the only area girls soccer team in the polls, filling the tenth spot in Div. 7.

Carpinteria has two teams in the polls, boys soccer and boys basketball.

Santa Barbara’s girls water polo team has been in the polls all season long, in at No. 6 in Div. I after a week of inaction.
