Ventura cleaned house on Thursday night, and the Dos Pueblos wrestling team happened to be there. The Cougars swept the Chargers out the door with a 46-14 thumping for intruding.
The Cougars won 11 of 14 matches to take the Channel League decision.
“It wasn’t close, they beat us in every aspect,” said DP head coach Anthony Califano.
Chad Lampe, Mario Elias and Chuy Lopez won matches for the Chargers. Califano also liked Chris Aguilera’s night as the senior moved up a weight class to 215 pounds and put on a good showing against defending league champion David Mitchell.
Dos Pueblos travels to Nogales on Friday.
