Chargers all business at Buena

Dos Pueblos captured a big Channel League victory at Buena on Wednesday, hauling in a 54-42 win over the Bulldogs.

Matt McClenathen led the Chargers in scoring with 18 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Jay Larinan did get the double-double, leading DP in rebounding with 13 while adding 17 points.

“We talked about taking care of business in this one,” said Chargers head coach Joe Zamora, happy with the distribution of contributions past McClenathen and Larinan.  “A hard place to win is always at Buena.”

Seven different Chargers scored in the game, which was a 35-32 contest at the start of the fourth quarter.

But DP outscored the Bulldogs by nine over the final eight minutes.

Cameron Nelson sank a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and Jackson Burke “came in and got some big rebounds for us and some putbacks,” according to Zamora.

The Chargers (9-9, 2-1) move on to Friday’s clash with San Marcos.
