Although the Rams started off on a slow foot, Cate’s girls basketball team quickly found its footing and caught up to Vasquez, resulting in a non-league 33-23 win on Saturday.
The odds were down for the Rams in the beginning of the first quarter while the Mustangs were up 10-2. Slowly but surely, Cate made a rebound, gaining a 22-19 lead by the end of the third quarter.
Cate outscored the Mustangs 11-4 in the final period to pull out the 10-point victory.
Simone Nettles aided the team with twelve rebounds and six assists. Grace Williams posted a team-high in points with 15, while Katrina Von Burg was Cate’s second-leading scorer with 8.
Cate now has a 3-5 record.
