Tritons stick Chargers with Romero

Pacifica and Dos Pueblos both took some time to get going on Monday, only the Tritons heated up a quarter earlier on their way to a 57-48 win over the Chargers on the second day of the Ventura Kiwanis Tournament.

Alex Romero poured in 18 points for Pacifica, which improves to 8-2 on the season.

Jay Larinan recorded a team-high 17 for the Chargers, who couldn’t dig out from a 24-16 halftime hole.

“We didn’t have it when we needed it,” said Dos Pueblos head coach Joe Zamora.

Neither team really had “it” in the first quarter as the Tritons topped the Chargers 8-6.

A 16-10 second quarter in favor of Pacifica was the difference as the teams played to a virtual stalemate in the second half.

Matt McClenathen tallied 11 points and Pablo Miranda added 10 more.

DP (6-7) looks to even its record on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when it play the winner of Buena and Westlake.
