Miranda scores 17 but Mater Dei ‘just so good’

It’s a tough year for the Mater Dei boys basketball team.

For the first time in eight seasons, they don’t have a player 6-10 or taller…. How awful.

Dos Pueblos can tell you that it hasn’t kept the Monarchs from being one of the nation’s best teams, as the Chargers were handed a 76-36 loss down in Santa Ana on Tuesday.

Pablo Miranda went 7-for-10 from the field en route to 17 points, but DP just couldn’t keep up.

“I’m proud of my guys. They came to play,” said coach Joe Zamora. “But Mater Dei is just so good all across the board.”

The Chargers are staying with Mater Dei families Tuesday night and going to Disneyland on Wednesday before getting back to work in the gym. Mater Dei will come up and stay with Charger families up in Goleta next year.
