Freemans highlight Gaucho day in Federal Way

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Freshman Tim Freeman’s 13th place finish in the 100 breaststroke  highlighted the action for UCSB on Friday at the 2009 AT&T Short Course National Championships at the Weyerhaueser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.

Santa Barbara Ramada LimitedFreeman finished 13th with a time of 54.98, moving up two places and dropping .55 seconds off of his morning preliminary swim. Recent UCSB graduate Jeff Sudbury also competed in the 100 breast and finished 11th with a time of 54.68.

On the women’s side, senior Anne Marie May also swam the 100 breast and placed 42nd in the prelims with a time of 1:04.74. Former UCSB standout Katy Freeman took seventh in the finals of the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.46, adding .31 seconds onto her morning prelims time.

The current and former Gauchos will all continue competition at the Short Course National Championships on Saturday. Both Freeman’s will tackle the 200 breaststroke, an event Katy is seeded fourth in, while May and Sudbury will compete in the 100 freestyle.
