Chargers take treat from Threatt

Since his NBA career ended, former Los Angeles Laker Sedale Threatt has formed a basketball academy in Australia, bringing teams to the U.S. to get a little seasoning in the country where basketball was founded.

Dos Pueblos gave one of Threatt’s teams from Melbourne a lesson in the sport on Tuesday, recording a 77-37 victory on the opening day of the Oak Park Tournament.

The Chargers built a 17-point lead by halftime, extending it to 35 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Matt McClenathen posted a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds. Jay Larinan and Robbie Mestas each reached double figures in scoring, with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

“He’s doing really good things for us and we’re looking for him now,” said DP head coach Joe Zamora of McClenathen, the Chargers’ leading scorer through five games.

Dos Pueblos takes a bye on Wednesday before returning to Oak Park on Thursday for a matchup with Agoura, a team the Chargers lost to last season.
