Cardinals cancel out Coast Union

Bishop Diego head coach Ray Vazquez inserted Kyle Holland and Sam Kwock into the starting lineup and Monday and got results.

The Cardinals responded to the shakeup with a 70-39 rout of Coast Union at the Village Christian Academy Tournament in Santa Maria.

Noah Tack scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the first half to lead the Cardinals to a 17-point halftime advantage.

“Noah’s been really consistent,” Vazquez said of his big man, who added 10 rebounds.

Holland and Kwock combined for 18 points in their starting roles, plus six rebounds for Holland and six assists for Kwock.

“For us to be successful those two kids have to play big roles,” Vazquez said.

The victory moved Bishop Diego into a Tuesday showdown with rival Carpinteria.
