Owls rally in second half but fall 31-21

Laguna Blanca’s football team came out and played an awful first half in its season finale at Dunn on Friday. Heading into halftime, the Owls trailed the Earwigs 31-0.

“I was so angry… I challenged them at halftime to play the rest of the game with pride,” said coach Ray Robitaille.

Laguna went out and won the second half 21-0 behind a pair of rushing touchdowns from Tory Ritter and another on a 40-yard  run from hard-nosed running back Austin Rusack. Yes, the season ended with a 31-21 loss, but it also ended with a strong final half.

Another positive for the Owls, who finished with just one win, is that only two players will graduate. Ritter and Rusack are two of the key returners.

“Every game we’ve played, the other team’s coach has come up and mentioned how hard he ran,” said Robitaille of Rusack.
