Cassie Brooker was named the Big West Athlete of the Week in women’s cross country after her performance at last weekend’s Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational.
Brooker completed the 5k course in 18:09.0 to take fourth place. The winner of the race was Zsofia Erdelyi of USC, who had a time of 17:36.0. Also competing in the race for UCSB was Callie Mulgannon, who placed 14th with a time of 18:53.0.
Two runners from UCSB also competed unattached in the men’s race. Anthony Masci ran well and took second place with an 8k time of 25:02.0, and Kenneth Raedel took ninth at 25:38.0.
The men’s and women’s cross country squads compete in the Big West Championships this Saturday. The meet will be held at UC Riverside’s Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
