Cate destroyed Cornerstone Christian with a score of 54-6 on Saturday, resulting in the mercy rule and ending the game in the third quarter.
Running back Randy Person was active in the first quarter, finishing the Rams’ first drive with a ten-yard score up the middle of field and throwing a touchdown pass to Luke Shover for Cate’s second score. A few minutes later, Shover recovered a fumble and returned it 75 yards for another Cate score that made it 21-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Freshman Kyle Mayfield and junior Cormac O’Connor carried the ball eight times each for 50 and 51 yards, respectively, leading to a touchdown for both. Starting quarterback Mackie Greason shined bright for the Rams with touchdown runs of 22 and 5 yards.
Cate, which improves to 4-0 on the year, plays next at Dunn on October 17th.
