Warrior spikers get turned around at Biola

After winning the first set 25-21 on Tuesday night, #25 Westmont lost the next three sets to #18 Biola (12-6, 3-4 GSAC) in a Golden State Athletic Conference match to fall to 11-6 on the year. The Warriors were led offensively by Beth Widicus and Stephanie Dunn with 11 kills each and Alison Sharp with 10 kills. Dunn also contributed six blocks.

The Warriors struggled with errors, committing 29 attack errors and hitting just .118. Westmont also committed 10 errors from the service line.

In the first set, the Warriors jumped out to an 18-8 lead and then held on to go ahead 1-0 in the match. Dunn produced four kills and a service ace in the first set. However, Biola came firing back in the second set to win 25-8. The Eagles rattled off 10 straight points to close out the set.

Westmont led in the third set 23-19, but four Warrior hitting errors and three Eagle kills gave Biola the 26-24 win and a 2-1 lead in the match. Biola finished off the match with a 25-21 win in set number four.

Westmont will travel to Costa Mesa on Friday to take on Vanguard in a seven o’clock match.
