Santa Barbara gets tangled up with No. 3 Loyola in opener

The Santa Barbara boys water polo saw one of the better high school teams in the country in its season opener and didn’t really like what it looked like.

The Dons fell 18-6 at Loyola, the No. 3 team in Division I.

Ken Myers scored a goal and drew four ejections while freshman Evan Robertson contributed another score for the Dons, who lost much of their experience with last year’s graduating class that included current Stanford players Ian Gamble and Hunter Ploch.

Santa Barbara will be back within the friendly confines on Saturday for its home opener against Mira Costa. Game time is noon.
