Friday night’s Throwdown at the Showgrounds wasn’t at all of a letdown for the capacity crowd assembled at Earl Warren Showgrounds, with a good mix of competetive matches and first round knock-outs.
Crowd favorite Christian Mooney, from Santa Barbara, fought in the fourth of seven fights. Despite the home-court advantage, Mooney quickly succumbed to Mark Kempthorne in a first-round TKO.
A shaky Drew Bittner was named a winner in fight two while still a bit dazed after taking an inadvertant but illegal knee to the head from opponent Alejandro Aldrete.
Bryan Smith and Joseph Lewis dominated with impressive first-round victories, while Chris Beal and Jesse Wallace endured three rounds of action before winning on decisions.
