Arntz blitzes to third straight aquathon win

Colorado’s Troy Herrera earned the title of fastest human at Wednesday’s Nite Moves, crossing the 5k finish line first in 16 minutes and 53 seconds. 

Local 14-year-old Bryan Fernandez scooted past everyone but Herrera, coming in second with a time of 17:42.

It was Jim West’s turn to win the 1k swim this week as the Santa Barbaran beat out last week’s winner, Camarillo’s Norbert Hoehne, who came in third, and Mason Edwards, who came in second. West time was clocked at 14:05, the fastest time recorded in July.

Chris Arntz won his third straight aquathon with a total time of 37:20. His swim leg took 15:29 and the run split was 21:52. Katie London placed third overall as the top female competitor, completing the swim/run course in 38:59.
